Escapes from art as escapes from commodification, elitism, dominant
markets, political pressure, imperialisms and colonialisms of sorts, just
name it -- art history abounds with them, your 'critical/multicultural
theory of the past couple of decades' thrives on them: they never worked
but stranded in ever more art. Saved! but frustrated!

OK that makes two of us still looking in different directions. My aphorisms
were invoked by my absolute doubt in 'aboutness', especially when
co-existing with 'quality': i can see propaganda marching in through the
back door already.
