by the simple act of placing his location after his name jouke becomes
the only one amongst us to have a there...

there he is in amsterdam and upon reading that word my sense of space
changed...i can visualize him in a place...a there...he is somewhere
else...

the electrosphere, whether television, radio, or the internet, acts like
a single place...here...a here without a there...

and this one dimensional place, this point of connection, this here has
no space...here is like items on a restaurant menu...relational but not
spatial...

perhaps we should look to oakland as the first modern place...a city of
which gertrude stein is reputed to have said, 'there is no there
there'...
