Amongst these things, these millions of things projected onto the world,
things which happen to be called 'works of art', thre are those which appeal
to the viewer, demanding their attention, allowing for incompleteness.
Things which provoke an exercising of our perception by activating the
mechanisms which give form to the senses, provoking subtle agitations,
reverberations, dysfunctions. Such things are not all things, but just some
things, the most interesting, active, vibrating things. But this effectuation
is not simply added uo to the object, as salt is added to food: the germ of
inconclusiveness must be inoculated in the very structure of the thing, at
precise moments of its development - at its formation stages - for the
adequate interlacing between its presence, fluidity and becoming. As a result,
the thing presents itself already as incompleteness, already prepared for
movement, the relays of reception and of activation already preinstalled
in different levels of its structure. The first, continually reaffirming the
imperative of autonomy (founding the thing's proper place and territory);
the latter, guaranteeing transversality (thus affirming opening, transparency,
transit between the senses, meanings, perceptions).
