The poetics of problem solving that artists apply, has been a favorite
of architects to use upon an otherwise rigid design system.
It's an arbitrary system of correspondences by which the known world
(urban context)was dissolved into exhaustive metaphors.
But the solution creates an ammalgam of space-time continueum that is
best comprehended by people through a soul enticing rethoric.
I have to say it is very effective.
I know I am not helping Greg Ulmer'question much but I thought it was
important to point out that cyberspace grows upon a culture of permanent
play back, where the memory live the consequence of an inner explosion,a
proliferation of dogmas which(like in our past societies)
can very well blind a virtual society as well, from its horrors(as
Bracha mentionned).
Memory being our ultimate private property,it is nonetheless turned
inside out, depersonalized as we age;but we are convinced that those
memories tagged with a private and personal label will get "its own
private parking indefinitely".Do we need today in this media based world
to recapture our private memories in its immaculate state??
I think such a memory transgression is even more plausible in
cyberspace where dreams and ideals will promote blindeness on the
merit of replacing memory failure by visuals, images.A diary where the
person writing the diary is non existant.
The poetics that we know and as used today may not be enough to provide
deep rooted solutions to such a personal transgression.
Can dreams and ideals highlight the horrors????

Attila.
