Following on from Greg's comment (23 June 12.34) re: the novel as a
virtual space......I like to think of the novel as the ideal immersive space.
Indeed, the most effective virtual world in computer-land is one that apes
the complete engagement of the novel at its most engaging and probably
most trashy! It is the act of writing in this manner that is particularly
engaging for me about this (ie on line) virtual life.
