One of the wonderful things that can happen in this type of forum is that
new space erupts at the most unexpected places. It's in accord with what
Hakim Bey has termed the "Temporary Autonomous Zone" and (I hope) what
Catherine David means by "cultural manifestations".

But it can get messy and uninformative. I think a strick adherance to
Subject lines in our posts would solve the majority of problems.

I'm fascinated by the possibilities in the Salton Sea thread but I'm sure
the topic is a complete mystery to those outside the U.S. who aren't
familiar with the Western American preoccupation with water- and
land-rights and the tendency to think in terms of ecology. I see them as
having a great deal to do with net protocols and perhaps there are global
equivalents that would be useful here.

Eve Andree Laramee has, by doing her own work, sparked a trajectory for my
own work. Greg Ulmer has opened an entirely new pathway for me to think
about. I like to think artists teach best by working. This list has already
proven invaluable to me as I work on several project that wrestle with
concepts of space online and off.
