Susan was a brilliant mind and a beautiful spirit that took her life because she was in deep pain. We will probably never know or understand the depth of her pain, but we do know it was intense enough to lead her to make the choice to leave this life.
To determine this act as a "stylish exit" is completely cynical, superficial and insensitive. It is precisely this kind of attitude which alienates so many people. Miltos, you are absolutely right to feel pity for yourself- you have a sad view of the world.
Susan was suffering but I did not know the extent of her suffering...her death taught me to be more perceptive and sensitive to the people surrounding me. I experienced the part of her which was full of joy, humour, intelligence, and generosity...it saddens me to know I was unable to share more of my life with her but I am grateful I was able to know her.
