L I T T L E I T A L Y N E I G H B O R S A S S O C I A T I O N ( L I N A ) z o n i n g r e s o l u t i o n a m e n d m e n t s The NYC Department of City Planning has proposed amendments to the Zoning Resolution and Zoning Map without soliciting input from the community. On Saturday, March 15, the Manhattan Neighborhood Council (MNC) will be holding a meeting to decide how to react to the city's failure to consult with representatives of the community in the development of this proposal. Specifically, the MNC will be voting on a resolution that calls upon the City Planning Commission to extend the review process for the zoning amendments in order to give community groups and other community representatives a fair opportunity to analyze the impact of the amendments and to offer input into their development.
The meeting will be held at the Puffin Room, 435 Broome Street (between Broadway and Crosby), from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m on Saturday, March 15.
L I N A members are encouraged to give their views on the proposal to Sante Scardillo at little_italians@yahoo.com.
Below is an abridged version of the proposed resolution:
Whereas, the NYC Department of City Planning has proposed amendments to the Zoning Resolution and Zoning Map, collectively entitled the Unified Bulk Program . . . . Whereas, community boards and community groups were not active participants in the development of the proposal and have not had an opportunity to adequately discuss its provisions . . . . Therefore, be it resolved that the Manhattan Neighborhood Council calls upon the Mayor and the City Planning Commission to extend the review process for the Unified Bulk Program from the charter-mandated review schedule until community boards, community groups and all who may be interested have the time to analyze and properly consider the impacts and implications of such a massive change to the New York Zoning Resolution.
