STATEMENT

(UNDER RE-CONSTRUCTION)

My work explores my love and suspicion of technology, beautiful surfaces and language. Each work resolves a part of this riddle. I use Plexiglas and paint, photocopy and bee's wax. These materials captivate me - their textures and the meanings they convey.

Plexiglas - has evolved out of an increased need for protection and separation. Despite this, its most common function - window. Society has gone to great lengths, great feats of engineering and manufacturing to create this material.

Photocopy - reproduction and distribution of mass - words mostly. Copy and perhaps capture the ocean, river, or Apollo moon landing again.

Paint - a well developed tool. Trained me. An enormous history, good for obscuring.

Bee's wax -never solid. The first plastic. Malleable. Clear and cloudy.

By removing and carving the surface and the technology, the structure I see is revealed.
