Cathy Haase

"Dynamite..."

The art is in the details for this New York native and Mistress of the Method. An intense actor posessed of depth and subtlety, she has without representation landed herself major roles in vehicles running the filmmaking gamut from the Berlin Avant-Garde to Hollywood Action. "Fascinating" in Maggie Greenwald's gritty adaptation of Jim Thompson's THE KILL-OFF, Haase's "acting is excellent" ( LA Daily News ) and in Walter Hill's ANOTHER 48 HRS., she "builds, supports and delivers the authenticity and immediacy" in her scenes with Murphy and Nolte.
Equally at home on the stage, Haase is often seen working at the Actors' Studio, of which she's a member and where she teaches a sense-memory class. New York's School of Visual Arts is proud to have her on its faculty and she also teaches privately. As a creative force in the art and film worlds, Haase's influence is best epitomized by the late Hungarian film director Gabor Body: "Cathy, the only reason (some of) these works will be remembered is because you're in them!"
