Evidence of Pofahl's business can be found all over Kenosha. If you've walked or
driven through part of the city today, you've probably seen it. It may be in the
homes and businesses you visit. It may be in your own home. In the 60 years the
family has been in business, they have sold hundreds of thousands of gallons of
paint, supplied wallpaper and flooring of all kinds (including linoleum, tile, and
carpet), and contracted to install the flooring.
The business was begun in 1944 by the brothers Ralph and Ray Pofahl and their wives,
Luella and Louise. It's currently run by Richard Pofahl, David Pofahl, and Dee
Wier. At the time the paint and flooring business opened, the family owned a
corner of the block where the building now resides. The building itself housed
a grocery store, while the paint store got its start in a building next door to
the north.
The store carries the comfortable and friendly atmosphere of a business that's
been in a family for several generations. The store's motto is "We know our paint;
we have your color." The confidence in that motto is well earned.
