A Quantum Leap
Jennifer Ley
In this equation
I have seen too much of my light
escape
into a black hole
a voidlike place
For a time I revelled in the bosonic dance
brought my light and blended it with all of yours
in waves of words tossed into the night
to all your screens, diodelike
It was illuminating for a time
I burned so brightly in the beam
But now, fingers burnt
and spirit singed
I separate
For the dance of the bosons has wearied me
and I do not recognize
a sparticle partner among you
I must leave you all to whirl on
alone, as I
shedding my mathematical light dress of zeros and ones
ask instead to take a turn garbed for a half integer spin
towards an unknown
but sight real quantum state
I am a fermion
as such, I seek a new equation
