I keep getting messages like this one, or ones that just say "delete" in
the subject line. I'd like for it not happen anymore; it's clogging up
my
email.

Come on folks,
stop spamming the list with "unsubscribe" messages... we all get
them!
I suggest you try to contact someone in charge (postmaster@gmd.de or
so)

Subject: Stop using this address.

Greetings fellow victims.

It seems that we were are all the unforunate recipients of an unwanted
email spam, and that the spammer created some sort of mailing list in
order
to reach us all. Unfortunately this was not a one-time thing but the
list
seems to still be in existence, and every time one of us sends a message
to
it (like "delete" or "unsubscribe"), everyone on the list gets emailed.

I have a simple solution: Let's all stop sending messages to
Cyberstar_L@gmd.de.

Then we won't get any more useless mail (from this address). I'm sorry
to
have used this address myself in order to point this out, and I
apologize
to anyone who's annoyed as I am with this inconvenience, but I decided a
message would be the best way .

By the way, you cannot remove yourself from a mailing list by sending
commands to the list itself, you need the address of the listserve in
order
to do that. Since none of us know what that is, we're SOL.

Again, PLEASE stop sending email to Cyberstar_L@gmd.de and then we can
all
stop receiving these messages.

I'm starting to think that this is a delicious hoax. A list to which no
one
subscribed, a list which has thus far posted only pleas to be dropped
from
the list. I too would like to be dropped from Cyberstar-L, but I am now
not
so foolhardy as to ask. On the other hand, it seems to have an
interesting
group of unwilling subscribers, so who knows...

i think that what the germans at cyberstar98 are really trying to point
out
is that spamming, heretofore only practiced by scam artists and hackers,
is
now a legitimate fine art form. to formalize this new movement, they
have
brialliantly chosen a carefully selected list of artists, critics and
galleries to spam each other.

perhaps they have a category in cyberstar98 just for spamming.
