Author's Notes: PILLAR OF FIRE: This poem comes with a sketch that could be considered a visual poem in its own right: o w rldw rldw rld o All the pieces included here draw on the Pythagorean number/ letter correlations. The sketch noted above translates out into the numerical value of 5. I originally conceived this piece as a rubber stamp printed with yellow ink, a reference to the notes in the Duchamp green box which mentions the artist's dream of a world in yellow. SEVEN: Plays with both perceived sacred and profane elements in grammar, letter and punctuation. BRANCUSI'S LADDER: Based on the sculptor Constantine Brancusi's Endless Column, as well as one of the last texts of gifts: The Martyrology Book[s] 7 & by bpNichol.
