EL PASO/PHOENIX/MINNEAPOLIS

El Paso

NOVEMBER 1, 2003
PROTEST IN EL PASO, TEXAS
IN SOLIDARITY WITH
JUSTICIA PARA NUESTRAS HIJAS

What: Protest on Saturday November 1, Day of the Dead, in front of the Mexican consulate, 910 E. San Antonio Street, in support of the families of the Juarez and Chihuahua City serial-killing victims and the scapegoats jailed for these crimes.

When: 12 noon to 1pm Mountain Time, Saturday, November 1, 2003. Actions will be in solidarity with a Ciudad Juárez-Chihuahua City demonstration that unites family members, citizens, and human-rights activists from around the state.

Why: November 1 is a day to remember the lives of the more than 100 Cd. Juárez and Chihuahua City serial-killing victims. Young women in the state have been raped and brutally murdered since 1993 and yet only one person has been convicted of one crime and innocent people are imprisoned.

International attention to these crimes is growing but with the U.S. having such close, significant ties with Mexico, it is our responsibility to apply pressure towards the resolution of these crimes and the cessation of the killings.

How: Show up for one hour and take action anyway you feel is appropriate (for example: silent mourning, loud and rowdy, street theater, etc). We will make a Day of the Dead altar(s) and leave them at the consulate.
